How about best Science Fiction (or Sci Fi) blog?

We'll certainly consider it.

I continue to think that the largest missing category in these awards is

Best Food / Recipes Blog

I was surprised not to see a category for best religion blog. Might be something to consider given how many there are.

How about a category for new blog products and services ie widgets etc.?

What about a best food blog category

The gun blogs or 2nd amendment blogs. Whichever. I think they make up a significant community in the blogosphere that has gotten scant attention outside their readership.

Kevin Baker said:

How about best Gunblog? There's a LOT of us. Check the Truth Laid Bear's community page for just a partial list.

I cannot locate the Best Gun Blog Category on your list. Hmmm.

Gun blogs are a huge and growing type of blog. I'd like to nominate a gun blogger for best of.

Hi , what about best Pet / Animal blog?

Linoge said:

I, personally, would like the idea of a gun/second amendment weblog category... There are enough of them out there these days to provide a large enough basis to judge.

What about best College Blog, or Student Blog?

I also noted the lack of a pet related category. Since 43% of the bloggers out there are cat bloggers, perhaps an addition of a pet category is warranted.

Perhaps splitting Africa from the Middle East and make two separate categories.

I see a category for Video of the Year, why not also have a category for Blog Post of the Year?

Also, noticed the ad running in the sidebar was borderline NSFW. Since a number of people read/vote from work, you might want to address that prior to the nominations/voting lest you find the site blocked by Websense or something like that.

The ads are new and I'm working on tweaking the settings to get them right. That will be fixed before nominations open up...

I think a blog services, content aggregation or widget services category would be great.

RE: Pet category.

I note that there are a large number of weblogs actually written by animals.

Dog Blogs, cat blogs, chimp blogs, etc. that are actually written fro the point of view of the animal.

The ads should be a bit tammer now...

I would love to see the return of the best Religious blog category. It was dropped (last year?) and there are so many good ones out there that I'd love to see it back this year!

GreenmanTim said:

Best History blog, or do you leave that for Cliopatra?

Best Natural History blog, or do you lump that with Science?

There really is no category where

type blogs fit.

Every year, this gets suggested.

Any comment on what keeps that category out?

Hi, when will we be able to nominate the bloggers?

As it is early Oct but what time or something?

I'd think that a category for Best Travel Blog would be a consideration. This seems to be one of the more popular topic blogs that many i know have. Anyway, just a consideration.

I just found out that you can embed polls from the weblog awards on a homepage. Cool. Supporting us won’t get you a damn tote bag, but you will get regular beer blogging again. And we both know that you can’t get that on NPR." - Balloon Juice

"So I haven't been actively promoting my Weblog Award nomination. Sure, I mentioned it, and I put up a little button, but I haven't told you to vote, have I? I haven't told you to vote once every twenty-four hours, have I? I haven't told you to rise up, my minions, and smite the Internet with your collective force, have I? Have I? Well, now I have." - Looky, Daddy!
